How Much Does a Website Cost for a Small Business in India?

Website prices in India range from a few thousand rupees to several lakhs. Here is what actually drives the cost, what you should expect to pay for, and the hidden costs to ask about.

Illustration of a website price tag for small businesses

Ask five developers what a website costs and you may get five very different answers. That is not always because someone is overcharging — the word "website" can mean anything from a single page to a full online store. This guide explains what drives the price so you can compare quotations fairly.

The two kinds of cost: one-time and ongoing

Every website has two types of cost:

  • One-time development — planning, design, building the pages and launching the site.
  • Ongoing costs — hosting, domain renewal, SSL, backups, security updates and the small changes every business needs over time.

Many cheap quotations show only the first number. Ask for both, in writing, before you decide.

What drives the development cost

  1. Number of pages. A one-page introduction is much less work than a 12-page site with separate service and industry pages.
  2. Custom features. Online payments, booking systems, customer logins, product catalogues with filters and integrations with other software all add significant cost.
  3. Content. If you supply ready text and photos, the project is simpler. Writing, photography and translation are separate work.
  4. Design approach. A clean, well-structured design is affordable. Highly custom animation or illustration costs more and often slows the site down.
  5. Revisions and approvals. Clear decision-making keeps projects on budget; repeated redesigns after approval do not.

What a basic business website should include

Whatever you pay, a professional business website should be mobile-friendly, load quickly, show your correct contact details, include an enquiry form that actually saves enquiries, and have basic on-page SEO such as page titles and descriptions. It should also run on HTTPS.

Hidden costs to ask about

  • Domain renewal — the first year is often included, but renewals are charged every year after that.
  • Hosting renewal — is hosting included, and what are its limits?
  • Paid plugins or themes — some need annual licences.
  • Changes after launch — who updates the site, and how much time is included?
  • Business email — usually a separate service.
  • Ownership — whose name is the domain in, and can you take the website with you if you leave?

How our pricing works

At 10xTimes we publish our standard plans: a one-page Small website at ₹7,000 + GST with ₹499/month, a Medium website of up to 4–5 pages at ₹10,000 + GST with ₹799/month, and a Large website of up to 12–13 pages at ₹14,999 + GST with ₹999/month. Each monthly plan includes hosting within agreed limits, routine care and a fixed amount of minor support time. Domain renewals and custom features are separate. You can see the full details on our website pricing page.

The bottom line

The cheapest quote is not always the lowest total cost, and the most expensive is not always the best. Compare what is included over the first two or three years, ask who owns what, and get everything in writing.
